Points System

1. You can earn points right away, but they are pending.
   Create account: +500 points (pending)
   Join newsletter: +500 points (pending)
2. Pending points unlock after the first paid order.
   Once the customer completes their first paid purchase, those pending points become available.
   This stops people from signing up just to grab a discount and leave.
3. Normal earning stays the same.
   10 points per CA$1 spent (subtotal only: no tax/shipping, after discounts)
   500-1,000 points per published legitimate review
   Referrals: 1,500 points for the first friend order (CA$3 value)
   Next orders: you get 10% of their earned points
   Referral points never expire
   Birthday: 5,000 points yearly
4. Redeeming points stays the same.
   500 points = CA$1 off
   Use a slider in the cart to apply points.
5. Expiry stays the same.
   All points except referral points expire 365 days after earned.
   Send an email 14 days before expiry.
   Referral points do not expire.

One Clean Example

Customer signs up + newsletter: 1,000 pending points.

They buy $100: earn 1,000 points + pending 1,000 unlock = 2,000 available points.

That is $4 off on a future order (2,000 / 500 = 4).
